The Unbearable Ipad

Hello everyone. It has been a while, not because I have nothing to post, far from it I have been busy cooking but trying to post on the blog without my computer has gotten the better of me. Using the iPad is challenging, I am used to using a keypad, I really have a hard time with a touch screen and word press is different on an iPad. The good news is that I I’ll have a new computer soon, maybe even this week and I am hoping all my data is salvageable. When I pick up the computer I will visit the apple wizards and hopefully they will do their tech magic. Because posting on this thing stresses me out I will keep this short.

I am active on Instagram and yesterday I saw a video about nut milk. I’ve made it before but this one is amazing. I changed it a bit adding my own touches. Honestly I could give up dairy milk after drinking this. I didn’t follow a recipe but can approximate for you.

Nut milk

makes a little more than a quart

1 cup raw unsalted almonds

1/2 cup raw unsalted pecans

filtered water to soak and 5 cups to make the milk

1 heaping tbs cashew butter

pinch of sea salt (generous)

1-2 tbs maple syrup adjusting to your personal taste

2 tsp vanilla extract

pinch of cinnamon

Pour the almonds and pecans in a lidded bowl cover with filtered water, enough so that the nuts are submerged and there is an extra couple of inches. Put lid on and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning drain the nuts and pour into a powerful blender or food processor. Pour in 5 cups filtered water and the rest of the ingredients. Blend on high speed for 2-3 minutes. Pour into nut bag and drain over a bowl or large (8 cup) measuring cup. Squeeze the bag making sure you get all the milk. Adjust for sweetness and flavoring  pour into glass bottle and refrigerate. It’s also delicious in coffee! Dont throw away the nut meal, put it in a ziplock bag and freeze. I use it for granola.

I also took my banana bread recipe that is here on the blog and made it into marbled banana bread. I will post the recipe later it turned out great!

    • Thank you so much Sonal, I am lost without my computer. I am buying a new one and hope they are able to salvage all my data from the dead one. Fingers crossed🤞🏻

      June 25, 2017
  2. All looks super yummy- especially the nut milk. I am completely behind on my posts and have functioning computer (hope I didn’t jinx it) – in case that makes you feel any better!

    June 25, 2017
  3. Looks delicious (that banana bread as well)! Where do you buy cashew butter from?

    June 25, 2017
    • Thank you so much they carry at Whole Foods, health food stores and I get also from local grocer fresh direct.

      June 25, 2017
      • Oh, they still carry it at Whole Foods? I know they had stopped for a while (at least my local one did). Thanks! 🙂 and I hope your computer problems resolve, by the way! I love this blog.

        June 25, 2017
      • It’s been a while since I got at Whole Foods they used to have a grinder that you add the nuts of your choice and making it yourself. I get it now at fresh direct. Thank you so much for your sweet comment.

        June 25, 2017
  4. Thank you for the recipe! In case you are interested, you can also sweeten nut milk using a date. The pictures are beautiful and it all looks delicious!

    June 25, 2017
    • Yes actually the recipe I saw used a date but I was out. I actually prefer dates for that. Thank you so much.

      June 25, 2017
  5. That vegan nectarine and plum tart looks awesome! I’m not sure how people function without a desktop computer. I too could never use my iPad for any of my blog posts. Yet, I hear people can even manage it on their iPhones. That would be really difficult. Looking forward to your recipes 🙂

    June 25, 2017
    • Hi Loretta, that is why I haven’t posted much of anything it’s just too difficult to maneuver. Thank you so much I am so looking forward to getting my laptop!!

      June 26, 2017
  6. It all looks so wonderful! I’m crossing my fingers for you on the data. I can see you’ve been busy! I’ve tried almond milk before but wasn’t completely satisfied, so I think I’ll try out some of your hints! I am drooling over that tart and banana bread, though!!

      June 26, 2017

    June 26, 2017
    • Thank you, it really is difficult. I know people who can use their iPad like a computer but that’s not me. Thank you so much Jasline!❤️

      June 26, 2017
  10. I used to find it infuriating when I had to post on my iPad. I gave up in the end! Your nut milk looks perfect! 🙂

    June 26, 2017
    • I thought maybe it was just me. It is so difficult posting on either the iPad or phone. I did just give up takes me 2x as long and the stress I don’t need. Thank you so much!

      June 26, 2017
  11. Wow, how lovely to see all pictures! I am the one still like to use the computer for my blogging, not the iPad. I felt easier for my fingers. Looking forward to seeing your vegan nectarine and plum tart recipes. 🙂

    June 26, 2017
    • Thank you Mochi, totally agree I have such a hard time posting from the iPad or phone. Limiting what I do, the tart was really delicious and I will post it soon!! Hope you are well and thanks again!

      June 26, 2017
  12. I honestly can’t imagine posting through an ipad either (I don’t have one), seems uncomfortable. Can’t wait to see those recipes, they look delicious, especially the marbles banana bread!

    June 26, 2017
    • Hi Sophia, soon this techno nightmare will be behind me. I keep missing comments. Hope you are well, thank you so much!!

      June 26, 2017
  13. Oh my gosh Suzanne! It all looks so amazing. I want to make your nut milk but what is a nut bag?? Can I sub it with a cheese cloth? Thanks for the recipe.

    June 26, 2017
    • Yes you can use a sieve or cheesecloth but nut bags are the best none of the little pieces get through, they have a drawstring closure and are so easy to use. I struggled with cheesecloth and sieves and now I am so happy to have gotten the nutbag. They have on Amazon.

      June 26, 2017
  14. You’ve been busy, Suzanne! I use Almond milk now for cereal, but this homemade version looks tasty. I can’t wait for the Cantaloupe Popsicle recipe. You can get a keyboard for your iPad, but I’m sure you know that. Good luck with your computer.

    June 26, 2017
    • Oh you should try making this nut milk it’s delicious!! Yes I know you can get a keyboard I just have an aversion to using the iPad. Can’t wait to get my laptop!! Thank you so much!!

      June 26, 2017
      • I know how much you miss your laptop. I went through the waiting period less than a year ago. Now I have a backup.

        June 26, 2017
      • Yes I really do. I am thinking about having a back up. I may get an inexpensive refurbished one from Apple that will be a back up just in case.❤️

        June 26, 2017
      • I had to buy a new one because I was on deadline when my other one went in for repair, twice. I couldn’t take the chance. You won’t be sorry.

        June 27, 2017
  15. I could not post on my IPad , your doing a great job. All your recipes look delicious and good luck with your new computer.

    June 26, 2017
    • Hi Gerlinde, it’s easier in the iPad than the iPhone I honestly don’t know how people do it. Soon I will have my computer, thank you so much!

      June 26, 2017
  16. Wow. This all looks incredible as always. I have never heard of anyone making their own nut milk. You are an amazing woman!

    June 26, 2017
    • It’s actually so easy and tastes so much better than the nut milk you buy in the supermarket. Thank you so much!!

      June 26, 2017
  17. Well done Suzanne– getting that all out to us on the ipad!! Don’t know if I could do that. And love all your previews of coming attractions!! that tart look delectable!!!! Waiting on recipes!! Maybe you even have your computer by now– hope everything can be recovered and works well! hugs!

    June 27, 2017
  18. The milk recipe sounds awesome! Not sure what a nut bag is though, will cheesecloth work? Looking forward to the other recipes when you get your computer fixed!

    June 27, 2017
  19. Isn’t it terrible in a way how addicted we our to our electronics?!! I don’t use my phone much, but i don’t know what I’d do if my computer died. I actually buy one every 3 years just because when it happened to me once I lost so many photos, including all of the ones i took leading up to and including my daughter’s wedding. I swore i wouldn’t let it happen again. Plus they seem to act up after a couple of years no matter what. Great recipes – i can’t wait!

    June 27, 2017
  20. You can use the dictation app on your iPad.
Not sure if nut milk is for me, but I Can’t wait for the cantaloupe Popsicles.

    June 28, 2017
  21. That’s so funny, I only ever use an iPad and use the wordpress app 😊😊 I guess it depends what you get used to 😃

    June 28, 2017
    • Yes I think that’s true, it’s almost foreign to me because on the laptop it’s much different!

      June 28, 2017
      • And I’d find it totally alien on a laptop or PC!

        June 28, 2017
      • It’s weird because that’s exactly what it is alien and uncomfortable. It’s all what you are accustomed to using!❤️

        June 28, 2017
      • Completely! I even find it hard work just using the keyboard on our laptop nowadays – my iPad has made me lazy! And reliant!!

        June 28, 2017
  22. All those looks and sounds amazing Suzanne. Hoping to see more of your amazing posts soon. It’s bit hard to work on WordPress with ipad.

Wow, I have never even thought of making my own nut milk! It sounds delicious and I like the idea of using everything, even the meal in a granola, brilliant 🙂

  27. How fun to see your first tomato, Suzanne!
I think you’ve done a lovely job improvising to publish your posts — but believe me I get the stress part. The combination of Verizon Internet, Yahoo mail, and Chrome… well, they don’t play nicely together on my computer at all. Add to it, WordPress refusing to let me get any notifications at all, so I’m late visiting my favorite friends, like you. o_O
I’ve never had nut milk. Yours looks and sounds delicious. As do all the gorgeous sweets!
Happy Fourth of July weekend, my friend.

  28. That milk sounds delicious and boy oh boy does that marbled banana bread look amazing. Those apple techs are amazing, and I’m sending you good tech vibes. I need to replace my computer and am really dragging my feet.

    July 3, 2017
    • Thanks Julie, the milk is amazing hope you give a try!! I have an appt on Friday at the Genius Bar at Apple taking my new computer along with the old one. They told me if the hard drive is not fried they will be able to transfer my files🤞🏻🤞🏻the old one was almost 8 yrs old I needed a new one but I would have used until it died a natural death, guess I hurried the process with my coffee. Have a great holiday🇺🇸

      July 3, 2017
      • I just ordered a new computer and have been holding my breath that this one lasts so I can transfer everything too! It’s only crashed 3 times today. Fingers crossed!

        July 6, 2017
      • Got my computer today, heading to the Apple Store tomorrow fingers crossed they can retrieve my data. I got it set up today and I am so happy to have it!! Hope yours works out as well🙏

        July 6, 2017
      • Keep me posted!

        July 10, 2017
  29. Glad to hear you’re new computer’s on the way. I can imagine your frustration over being without one. I’m useless on a touch screen, too, and would go crazy without my laptop. We have a desktop, too, which my husband prefers.
Fabulous recipes, Suzanne, all absolutely mouthwatering. The banana bread and the nectarine and plum tart are making my mouth water. And although the nut milk is a new idea to me, I adore nuts so can imagine how good it tastes. A lovely ‘comeback’ post. Have a great time tomorrow! 🙂
