My New Blender
First of all thank you all for your comments and recommendations. I truly appreciate all the input, honestly getting recommendations from cooks who like me use their appliance on a daily basis is worth more than any advertisement or review so thank you.
My head was swimming, reading about the different products on the market, the reviews etc… it became very confusing so I stopped reading reviews and concentrated on what you all recommended along with the facts about the machines.
I set a budget of $300. Right now with all the Veterinary visits etc.. the amount I could spend was limited. I am sure any of you with pets can attest to how expensive it is to visit the Vet, the tests and office visits and meds are mind boggling and Nando is still struggling and at the Doc’s almost every week.
- I wanted a machine that was powerful approximately 1000 + watts.
- A machine that could do everything from making smoothies and pureed soups to crushing ice
- Had to fit within my budget
- A good track record, not asking for perfect good is fine.
My first choice was a Vitamix but the model I wanted was almost$700. I probably could have stretched my budget and gotten another model but thats the one I want. The other blenders I considered were the NutriBullet, Breville Hemiphere, Kitchen Aid Torrent. I would like to have purchased from Williams Sonoma because I love their fantastic customer service, it’s the best bar none. The NutriBullet is a great machine but the carafe is not large enough for my purposes and the RX has a heating element which I didn’t want or need. I almost purchased the Breville but the Hemisphere got mixed reviews and I just wasn’t sure it was for me. The Kitchen Aid Torrent is new, I love Kitchen Aid my stand mixer is so good and reliable but I decided with a price tag of $449-$599 depending where you got it was not in my budget and if I am going to spend that much I’ll just get a Vitamix. The other machine that receied some good to great comments was the Ninja, it seemed to have everything I was looking for and at a reasonable price.
I decided to buy the Ninja Professional, it has 1100 watts, a 64 ounce carafe and two individual small cups for my smoothies. It has everything I wanted, power, size, versatility was only $139 so less than my alloted budget, so here’s hoping I like it. I am excited to give it a go, it arrived today. Thank you all for your great advice and recommendations.
Congratulations on the new blender. I’ve heard great reviews from friends who have the Ninja.
I am excited to start using it. Have missed my morning smoothie.
This is a very helpful comparison, Suzanne. Hope you love your Ninja!!!
I do too Em, fingers crossed. Thanks
Looks like a great choice. Please let us know once you have used it for a while if you are happy with it.
I will can’t wait to start.
You’re gonna love it!!! I use mine on a daily basis and it’s never failed me yet 🙂
Thanks Linda I used the link from Target that you sent, it arrived today. Very excited to give it ago. Thank you again.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Let me know how it works out! I’m considering the Ninja Mega Kitchen System because it has shredding blades. The goal is something that can juice and replace both my blender and food processor.
I will let you know how I like. My counters are so cluttered with kitchen appliances so glad I got rid of my coffee maker in favor of a french press I wouldn’t have had room for the blender. I have to look at that. Love the idea that it does it all.
I have heard nothing but good stuff about your blender model – enjoy!
I had to break it out and make a smoothie, have missed them the last few days. It worked great, crushed the ice not even a shard and it was smooth and creamy pretty much perfect. Thanks so much Liz.
It was great to see how you narrowed things down to make your decision, Suzanne. It was a good example to me as I am very indecisive. I hope you love it. Can’t wait to hear what you make and how you like it.
Thanks Shari, I never thought purchasing a new blender would be so hard. It used to be fairly easy because there was not such a wide variety to choose from. I will let you all know how it does, I did make a smoothie with ice in it and it did great.
I look forward to hearing more about it 🙂
I had the nutribullet in my cart but I needed a bigger carafe, nutribullet gets glowing reviews almost across the board, The Ninja I think will be great. I made a smoothie and it turned out perfectly. It’s a very powerful machine. I do so many pureed soups and sauces I needed at least a 54 ounce carafe this one is 64 so thats even better. I wonder how it will do with hummas. Have to make that next.
Cool, sounds like you made an informed decision 🙂
I love my ninja! It’s fabulous! ❤️
I am very excited, nothing like a new kitchen appliance, makes me happy. Thanks Sonal.
Same here😀
I love it! Hope to see great things coming out of it soon! Enjoy! 🙂
Thanks Viviana, can’t wait to start using it.
You’ve got a great one, based on what I have been hearing. I have a blender I bought 20 years ago in Japan with all its bells and whistles. It does everything and still make its presence. I look forward to goodies you will produce with your new Ninja!!! 😀 )))
Thanks Fae, you must have a great blender, 20 years is a long time to keep a kitchen appliance.
Yes I saw some less than favorable reviews. I also considered this limited edition Waring that is on WS site, it looks so cool the design is great and I had my Waring for 12 years, then I read the reviess, terrible. The review from people who had it from 1-4 weeks were great but the people who had it 6-12 months had nothing but problems so I passed on that one also. I think I will like my Ninja.
I know there is a certain Breville that is compared to the Vitamix, but I forgot which one it was. I love watching Test Kitchen, I learn so much when they test products. But I have learned that the Ninja is a good one, but for whatever reason my heart is settled on Vitamix. I can’t wait to see what you make with this Ninja girl :). Kiss Nando fo me.
I think it’s the hemisphere which is what I was considering. It got quite a few not so great reviews which kind of soured me. It probably is a great machine, Breville is very good quality.
Sounds like you got what you needed at a good price. Kudos Suzanne. Wishing you well.
I did indeed, made a smoothie, crushed the ice to smithereens, not even a shard it was great. Thanks Teagan.
Good luck with your new blender, Suzzane! Do let me know how you like it.I can relate to the excitement of getting a new kitchen appliance as we recently got our new refrigerator after months of me going back and forth to the garage refrigerator:) I could not decide on which one to get and when I finally decided on the LG with the 2 drawers, it was on back order for a months and a half!
It’s so hard to make a decision on an appliance these days. It is exciting, next is a new stove, Thanks so much.
Hope Nando is feeling better.
Hopefully he will start improving soon, Thank you.
Good luck! I have never heard of it before, but for that price if it does the trick and is durable it is a steal.
I had only heard in passing of the Ninja, never really even considered it but it has everything I want and yes if it turns out to be everything I expect it’s a steal. Thanks Stefan.
Very good….for now that will work out fine for you (my MIL has one and loves it!). Nothing to sacrifice Nando’s health at this time either! Hugs, Your Florida Bud, Cheryl.
Thanks yes I have to budget right now medical expenses are so so high, Thanks Cheryl.
I completely understand!!!
:o)
I love the way you went about soliciting opinions and making your decision! Sounds like you’ve got a winner 🙂 My blender is probably the kitchen appliance that I get the most use out of. It’s important to have one that you like!
I consider all of you a very valuable resource and your recommendations as experienced cooks means more than any review I may read online. Thanks Heather.
Congratulations, Suzanne! This is what we also have – works quite well.
You like yours? Good to know. Thanks Anatoli.
congrats!! That’s what I have too and LOVE it. It’s been a workhorse for me!!
Thats so good to know thanks Susan.
You made a very informed choice. Have fun with your Ninja !
I will thank you Gerlinde
Enjoy your Ninja, Suzanne! This whole shopping ordeal has been very informative. Thank you! 🙂
Thanks Debbie, it was a learning experience for me.
Suzanne so glad you found what you wanted and what the blender could do for you and well under budget, I love when that happens. 🙂 Enjoy new blending!! 🙂
I really wanted a vitamix but my dream blender had to take a back seat for now because of Nando’s medical expenses. I will have one one day. Thanks Amy.
I am happy with the Ninja it seems to be a really good product.
Yes one day, and go to QVC they are much cheaper then in the stores, but enjoy this one for now!!! xoxo
Yrs thanks Amy I will definitely check out QVC. I am enjoying the Ninja though
Good deal. I’ve been wondering about the Ninja. Does it have a “Pulverize Raspberry Seeds” button? 😉
Ha well no specific button but will see how it does with the pesky seeds
There ought to be something that doesn’t require straining. 🙂
Totally agree both blackberries and raspberries
What fun Suzanne!! Can’t wait to see what comes out of that blender!
I am currently playing with it, I love the individual cups for my morning smoothie. It is very powerful and seems to be doing a very good job.
Glad to hear it! I know you’l make good use of the new blender!!
Good luck with your new machine. It’s not a brand I know but perhaps it hasn’t reached these shore yet. 😉
Actually I only just heard of it recently myself. It’s a very powerful blender and seems to be a good purchase so far. Thanks so much.
I just love new kitchen toys! They have come such a long way since the best ones used to be the ones that could crush ice! Have fun!
It doesn’t seem that long ago there were only a few brands to choose from now it’s overwhelming trying to choose. Thanks Julie.
It’s so exciting to try out new toys. They’re great for making frozen treats now that it’s so hot out. Happy blending!
I love the name Ninja! Im a white water kayaker and some of my kayaking friends often call me Ninja as there aren’t many women who canoe at my level. Cant wait to see what you create in the kitchen with your new blender. Best wishes. Emma xx
Enjoy your new kitchen toy Suzanne! How exciting! 🙂
Cannot believe the price of a Vitamix! I’d want it to do more than chop, grind, and mix for that kind of money. I’d definitely choose the Ninja. This was an interesting post with lots of great information. I’ll hang onto my trusty old blender and treat it with a bit more respect after reading all the options!
