A Special Fiesta Friday Tribute to Selma
I know so many of you knew Selma@Selma’s table and the sad news of her passing on July 4th. This is a terrible loss for us all, Selma was so much a part of our blogging community, I never even knew she was battling cancer, please participate in this tribute for Selma, see below for details.
Some of you have heard of the unbearable news. Nonetheless to the rest who haven’t, it’s no less painful for us to be the bearers of the sad news of a dear friend’s passing. Selma of Selma’s Table, whom we have the honor of calling a sister in spirit, passed away on Saturday July 4th, after losing her battle with cancer.
In losing Selma, we at Fiesta Friday have lost an encouraging supporter and co-host, a loyal advocate, and a true friend who was generous with her time and knowledge.
Selma touched many lives. We know you share the same sentiments about her. We understand that you, too, want to show your appreciation for all that Selma had brought to our community as a whole and to your blogging experience personally.
So amidst our collective grief, but with love and deep admiration, we would like to dedicate a special Fiesta…

Back at you!
Thanks Suzanne for sharing the sad news of Selma’s death. I’ll miss her warmth and the lively food discussions we enjoyed.
It really is so sad and shocking and she will be sorely missed.
That’s very sad to hear. I’m so sorry. Hugs.
It is so sad. Selma was a wonderful and supportive friend to so many.
I recall seeing a few of her recipes on Tasty Kitchen.com I did not know her through TK. A loss none the less.
I have posted a tribute on Tasty Kitchen.com for Selma (she was a member also as I am as you know).
That’s wonderful. I have to join.
Yes, you do not have to submit recipes. You can join free and just peruse recipes if you want to. Very easy site to navigate and friendly wonderful people with a huge following, like 150,000 plus members. Some contributing such as myself others using the site for recipes to cook or for ideas to cook. User friendly…Selma had some terrific recipes there and they will remain there as long as TK (now in its 6th year) and Ree Drummond AKA The Pioneer Woman keeps it going and she will.
Suzanne it appears Selma put herself on inactive status last year. I’ll see what I can do!
Oh dear, yes let me know. The wonderful editors at Food52 are going to do a tribute to Selma on Friday posting two of her great recipes.
Great-she also was author on eat.cook.share I believe. I do not know when she became ill but perhaps when she knew she placed herself inactive which any member can do at anytime? Disappointing yes. I know Selma won several contests on Food52 right?
Yes she won one or two. She has such a wonderful assortment of recipes.
Yes on TK there were Indian fusion dishes and all types of different interesting recipes, which is why she stood out too me. Although, I am so active on that site not much gets past me. Some recipes are ridiculous to me but everyone has the right to create what they like, right? As individuals we can. Some of mine may seem ridiculous too. HA-I can laugh about that because sometimes you just can not always be super serious all the time. I create recipes, tweak, cook and eat then post the ones I wish to share. Simple. The simple things in life give me pleasure Suzanne! I know you know what I mean…
I know exactly what you mean, some of my recipes are “out there” not sure what I was thinking when I made an Earl Grey Vodkatini” yikes. When I have some time I will peruse their website.
Oh my Suzanne you are so funny!
So sad to hear about these news, thanks for sharing Suzanne. xx
It’s very sad.
