Talented Artist And Designer And A Pear Tree Grows in Brooklyn
I have been meaning to do this post for a while but time and life have gotten away from me. I am sure that most of you have noticed the adorable pugs plastered all over my site, well if you didn’t take a look. They are the work of a very gifted artist, blogger, cook and friend Azita from Fig and Quince. I originally asked her to do a logo for me, since my blog is “a pug in the kitchen” I of course wanted a pug but I also wanted to somehow incorporate my favorite (visually) fruit a pear. A few years ago when I started a business my logo was 3 pears side by side each a little different in shape and size. I loved that logo and wanted that to be a part of this also. I am always out and about, talking to people and never got business cards to hand out regarding my blog, so Azita helped me with the design and even had them printed for me from the most wonderful place moo.com who does an outstanding job, the quality is phenomenal. Azita also designed my Twitter page (@bklynpuggal) it’s so wonderful Thank you Azita!!
These are how my business cards look, the pugs on the front on beautiful colored card stock and my pertinent information on the back. The reason for this post is simple, I wanted everyone to know Azita and how talented she is, visit her lovely blog Fig and Quince you will love it and maybe if you need some business cards or a logo or a great recipe for Persian food you will remember my little post and contact her. Here is a link to Azita’s portfolio, take a look at her art work it will blow you away!!
I am so thrilled, we planted a pear tree in the front yard of my home, previously we had an apple tree that was diseased and unfortunately there was no cure and it died. This pear tree is very young but is already bearing fruit, look at the pears. Can’t wait until they are ready to pick.
Suzanne,
What a wonderful logo! Totally loved it :). Azita sure is very talented. Did notice that on your twitter. I have been meaning to do a logo for my blog too. Soon :)…
It’s totally me, Azita really captured exactly what I wanted. Thank you.
🙂
Wonderful! Yes, i had wondered about the page design — and admired it very much. I’m so glad you shared this. Besides, i needed something cherry, since a few minutes ago i took a header down my front brick stairs. Big ole scrapes bruises and (since i have even more stairs inside) a sprained ankle. When i do something, i don’t do it half way! 🙂 Thanks for the fun post.
Oh Teagan, are you ok???? you poor thing. Take care of yourself and Thank you so much.
Love the logo!! When the pears are ready to pick, you should make a pear tart or something and blog about it!! 🙂
I hope the neighborhood kids don’t pick them before they have a chance to ripen. i only have 6 pears on the tree, it’s really quite small and young. If I have pears I will definitely post a recipe. Thanks Michael.
So cute!
Thank you.
The business cards are lovely and unique. So sorry about sweet Daisy. It is a terrible grieving process, as we lose our precious family members. Your vegetable cous cous looks delicious. And…there is something about a pear tree ~
Thank you so much on all counts. Totally agree about a pear tree, pears in general, not sure why I am so visually attracted to the fruit but I am, its just so beautiful.
Beautiful!!!!! Love how you incorporated pugs and pears.
Maria
Thanks so much Maria!
I’ve always loved these little pugs on your blog Suzanne! I had no idea that it was Azita that designed them! So talented… so adorable. ❤
Thank you, Azita is an amazing and very very talented person. If everyone knew just how talented she is, word got out I am sure she would not have time to breathe, I want her to have time to breathe but also wanted everyone to know how wonderful she is. Thanks so much Prudy!
Oh, what a sweet surprise! Thank you Suzanne joon & it was a pleasure working with you. For realZ! 😉 Since you’re kindly giving me a shout out, I’ll be bold enough to say that my portfolio is http://www.azitahoushiar.com AND I’m available to take on new assignments.
Also: a pear tree? Squee! And that pear looks promising and charming. yay.
Thank you! ❤
I wanted to surprise you, I have been working on this post for weeks, but as I said time got a way from me. I am going to add the link to your portfolio to the body of the post. You are amazing Azita and everyone should know.
OMG. I’m going to faint now (after blushing profusely) and will thank you properly once I’m revived.
THUMP! 😉
❤
Hi Suzanne. I have often admired your cute pug logos. They are just perfect. Azita is very talented. 🙂
She truly is! Thank you.
Congratulation, you have your own pear now, make some pear dessert later. Lovely!
Thank you yes, I have pear desserts radar. Thanks Mochi.
Azita’s illustrations are lovely. I had noticed and admired them when the first appeared in the sidebars. May your pear tree be very fruitful. 😉
Thank you. I LOVE what Azita did, she is so very talented, and so excited about the pears. YAY!!!
You know I love your logo and Azita is incredibly talented. So nice to have her back…I’m going over to see her portfolio now. Nice post Suzanne. Hope you are able to harvest all 6 pears before the neighborhood kids do!
LOL, just checked and there are 5 someone got one. Thanks, Azita’s portfolio is incredible as is her talent.
Oh darn…
Love your new logo!!! It’s perfect for you!
Thank you Susan I feel the same way.
Indeed, Azita is talented in many fields! Your business cards, logos, blog background are adorable, attractive and fun to look-at artwork! Thank you for directing us to more of her creations. It is a great feeling to watch your tree(s ) bear fruits and even better, to taste them. 🙂
Thank you Fae, it’s wonderful to look at Azita’s work. She is amazing and I do hope the pears are good, I want to bake something with them.
Azita is very talented! I love the dog in the logo, especially in black…
Me too, the black is my favorite against that green background. Thank you.
Azita is so darned talented. Her blog is just a visual delight. I didn’t know that she does freelance art work. Very good to know!!!
She certainly does and I am going to have her design note cards for me also. I love the place she uses for the printing, excellent quality.
Oh my wonderful logo Suzanne…just adore your cute Pug and favourite fruit logo….perfect. ….Congrats dear Suzanne. ….
Thank you so much Chitra!
Love your logo and business cards, Suzanne! I added pears to my smoothie today. What a coincidence! 😀
Oh I bet that was delicious. Thanks Patty!
I love Azita’s artwork and I fell in love with your logo as soon as I saw it a few months ago. The business cards are gorgeous! How lovely that she made one for each pug! Just lovely!
It really is nice and so glad to have a card for each pug. She just does such great work. Thanks Francesca.
Awe love it all and I heard of that business card co before looks good and you’ve inspired me to do some pug paintings hehe
Oh fun, I want throw pillow covers hand painted with Izzy and Nando, I have to find someone who does fabric painting, Really want to see your painting,
Oh there is some great pug cushions and hand painted pottery in a shop down the road one fawn and one black pug with top hat v similar in style to your logo 🙂 I’m
Always tempted but have sooo many cushions they have two left last I looked
I need to look around and see if I see any that I fancy. I have seen embroidered but I don’t want that I want paint on fabric either silk or cotton. I just adore pug paraphernalia, I have some around here 2 antique ceramic pugs, pug paintings I got on etsy, pug mugs. LOL. I’m a little nutty.
Hi Suzanne, love the logo, it is perfect. Been thinking about a logo for my site, when I’m ready I will use Azita, her work is lovely!
Thanks Cheri, I highly recommend Azita, she is fantastic in every way.
You’re both such amazing and talented women! I really do love your ‘pug and pear’ logo and great to see the business cards too – the colours and styling are perfect! Great to look through some of Azita’s portfolio just now too – amazing work!
I really love it too, Azita captured exactly what I wanted but had a hard time conveying. She is intuitive. Thanks so much Margot.
Suzanne, love cute little pig in your logo:-) talented work
Thank you so much, I love the logo and business cards. Azita did such a great job.
Totally agree Suzanne:-)
love it 🙂
Thanks Liz me too!!
It is nice to see how many bloggers are not only good behind a stove but also creative artists 🙂 The logo is perfect!
I totally agree, and I am sure if queried you would see so many food bloggers are artists, it kind of goes hand in hand. Thanks so much.
So beautiful! I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. And I hope those darn neighborhood kids or ADULTS don’t pick them. Lol
Ha, yes me too! Thank you.
They’re also such a beautiful blossom in spring! The pear trees, that is.
So true, just beautiful, Johnny where have you been. Haven’t seen anything from you lately,
I’ve stopped blogging. Will have to be quick here as there’s a massive thunderstorm right now. May have to disconnect. Anyway, I’m keeping kitschnflavours open for now. But I’ve put Flours n Dainty Buns private. I’m not even sure if I can give passwords for it or not. Will have to figure that one!
Oh wow, I will miss you and your recipes and posts. Stay safe from the thunderstorm.
Very cute design and business cards, Suzanne and I see you have one of each! Too cute! So happy for you and your pear tree! I hope you get to harvest your fruit! It’s the best feeling!
Thanks so much Christina, I love the pug and pear. Yes keeping fingers crossed that people don’t steal my now 5 remaining pears. There is also a problem with squirrels, they will pick the fruit, take a few nibbles and throw it away. Wasteful creatures,
I love(!) these images! Perfectly captures a pug’s inquisitive head cock. 🙂 Great job, Azita and Suz!
Thanks Em, it really does doesn’t it. Azita managed to capture it and she doesn’t even own a pug. It’s like their signature pose.
Well done to Azita. I was wondering whether you had done them… They’re gorgeous!
Thanks yes Azita is the genius behind the pugs. She is amazing.
I don’t believe that pear tree is already bearing fruit – congrats!!!
Btw, your biz card illustrations are adorable! I was always under the assumption that you drew/designed the pugs on the side of your page – you are amazing forgivingcredit where credit is due!
