I killed My Computer
Well, I did it. I am normally so careful and today I broke my own rule and had my coffee next to the computer which I never do, of course I promptly knocked it over onto the computer. The computer appears to be dead it is covered with uncooked rice, a suggestion by friends. Because of this I may not post anything for a while until either I can pull a Victor Frankenstein and re-animate or get a new one. Hoping all of my information is not lost. Using my iPad to post this we will see how that works. Hope you all had a great Memorial Day that celebrate the holiday and that you have a great week.
Made an ice cream cake for the holiday and as soon as I get used to using an iPad I will post the recipe.

I may have to go to Apple Store and get a new one. Not sure whether coffee with milk has shorted it out. Ugh…..

Hi Ronit, I think it won’t recover but will give until the morning. At one point the screen started flashing then went black. The light doesn’t even come on now when the power cord is plugged in.😪😪😪
That doesn’t sound good… However, I recommend taking it to a technician, as they can sometimes save info even from dead computers. Good luck! 🙂
We need a sad button instead of a Like button sometimes. 😦 This is one of them. I had to buy a new computer less than a year ago. This morning I nearly tipped a bowl of cereal onto the keyboard. I feel your pain, Suzanne. The cake looks delectable and Percy looks adorable. He’s so good to pose for you. 🙂 You and Percy have a great week.
Thank you Mary, I have a iPad and phone but like working on the computer. A new one is very expensive, bad timing but it’s my fault for being clumsy. The cake is delicious and Percy is such a good sport!!

Well David if a big fella showed up at my door with a British/Welsh accent in a trench coat I would welcome him in and feed him, sprouts if he wanted or something a bit more naughty. Thank you I am afraid my computer is a goner. Maybe it will resurrect overnight.😘😘

I don’t think the rice worked, it seems to have shorted out and is now dead, will see in the morning but it think it’s RIP Mac Air😪

I know. I’ve spilled a drink on my keyboard and had to replace it -I was lucky! Make sure you upgrade to a better computer!! 😊😊😊

oh no – I so feel with you, having just had more or less no computer for nearly 2 months (nothing to do with me really – some internal problem due to hour constant electricity problems) – lets hope you will be able to sort this out soon. Oh no Suzanne! This is when you wish you could just rewind the clock and skip the coffee spill! My laptop slid off my lap last fall and I had to replace the screen (top half). Ugh. It was distressing! And waiting on the chocolate/ice cream cake!! looks amazing! Perfect for a holiday treat~ Did you celebrate Memorial Day in your neighborhood?? Yes I wish I could rewind the day. I normally don’t keep any liquids near my laptop, that morning I was doing a favor for a neighbor and scanning a document for her, sat my coffee down while I hooked up the printer and the rest is unfortunate history. We had a wonderful holiday friends and neighbors came over we ate and had a great time. Thank you so much!!

Sorry to hear about your computer! 😦 I’ve spilled some coffee and water before on my keyboard (not a heavy drench, but lighter spills)-a friend told me to turn the keyboard upside-down so it can “drain”–and that has worked for me-maybe something to try if it happens again!
Thanks Nancy, it is a laptop so the liquid got into the computer wetting and shorting out the board. I love a laptop but if i had a desktop this would not have been so bad. Thank you I learned a lesson with this one!

You could use a cloud service like Google Drive or iCloud so your files will never be lost when your computer dies.
I am not sure if my files are saved on iCloud I can’t figure out how to access it. I know all my photo’s are on all of my devices but can’t seem to find where my documents are as they are not on my iPad. Thanks Stefan.
Oh no! All I can say is, I know how you feel. A few months ago my husband bought me a brand new MacBook. It was beautiful. My old one (8 yrs old) wouldn’t even turn on anymore. After having it about three days, I sat down to do some work on it, spilled my mug of tea all over it… I took it to the Apple Store, but they said they cover everything except water damage ( we had bought a $300 care program they offer). I still don’t talk about it… not sure what I’ll do. Im still using my husband’s mini iPad to do everything. It’s great, but nothing like my MacBook. I sure hope you get yours repaired!
Oh no, my computer was about 8 yrs of but still worked great. I can’t imagine if it happened to a new one. I have to buy a new computer and hope they can somehow extract the data from the one I fried. I am so sorry to hear that, I also am using an iPad mini and hate it. Have to get a computer soon but they are expensive and I have to wait. I will never have a drink near a computer again. That is terrible that they wouldn’t cover the repair under the Apple care plan, I am so sorry to hear this.
I can relate to that. I always drink coffee besides the Mac. That cake looks to die for really! 🙂
