Wine Pairing For Grilled Shrimp
Just a quick note this morning, Julian who pens the fantastic Vino in Love wine blog asked me to collaborate with him on a food/wine pairing. It’s summer and perfect for white wine and fish. I prepared two dishes one is my shrimp scampi that I prepared on the grill. I always have a hard time picking just the right wine to go with a meal, there is a real science to it and this is why I rely on the experts like Julian to help me make just the right choice. I love following the various wine blogs and learn so much from each. Here is a link to Julian’s post. Β Thank you Julian as always I enjoyed our collaborations and learn so much from you. Salud!!
These shrimp look amazingly delicious. Do you have a recipe for them? Would love to prepare them.
I’ll take a look at the wine recommendation now π
Yes, Julian posted the recipe. I am going to see if my local wine merchant has the wine he recommended and going to make them this week. Sounds like a perfect wine for the dish. Thank you.
I enjoyed our collaboration, too π
It was lots of fun working with you on this food & wine pairing for grilled shrimp.
The shrimp taste really good. I loved eating them and it wasn’t that complicated to prepare them!
Oh I did too, it’s always so good to work with you and a real learning experience for me.Thank you!
I love shrimp with a crisp white wine and yours look divine. I’ll go and look at the recipe. Great photo too – I adore the pink, purple and green…
Oh yes, white wine and shrimp are so good together and I love having with the recommended wine.
What a fun thing to do! As always, your food looks amazing.
Thank you, I can’t wait to try the wine with the shrimp.
Beautiful photo. I’m not a shrimp person but will check out the recipe. Maybe for a special treat for my husband. I still struggle with wine pairings too. Sometimes I’ll pick a wine then come up with a dish to celebrate it. One of my favorite restaurants is Telepan mainly because they manage spot on pairings every time.
I am definitely challenged when it comes to pairings. I never really understood the science but find it fascinating. I look to the wine experts for pairings. Never been to Telepan, sounds great. So nice meeting you yesterday/ Thanks so much!
So nice to meet you too! Thanks for inviting us into your beautiful home!
That looks absolutely divine! Gorgeous photos! I wish I knew more about wine pairings. It’s something I want to learn more about and need to devote more time to. π
I have been trying, I know exactly what you mean. It’s hard to do it right, for me it’s like a stab in the dark. Thanks so much.
Oh wow Suzanne…this shrimp looks incredible. Great post about pairing wine because too often it can be an oversight! I’ll go see vinoinlove now! π Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I love Julian’s site. It’s got a veritable wealth of wine information and great recommendations. Thanks so much.
I want this shrimp, nom nom! I don’t drink wine, but I will drink about anything with these shrimp!
The shrimp are really really good thanks so much Pamela!
What a great idea to do some wine-pairing! That’s always one thing I find hard about food, knowing what wine to pair it with. These shrimp look amazing, so I think I’m gonna head over to Julian and check out the wine!
Thank you, yes I too am challenged when it comes to wine pairing. Julian has a great site, I am learning so much.
Shrimp scampi is one of my very favorite dishes!!! And really tricky for a wine pairing. I’m heading over to his site right now π
It’s one of mine also and yes, it certainly can be a bit tricky. I always trust Julian’s recommendations. He is always spot on!
I am not a wine drinker, but I will have the shrimps! They look so delectable. π
Thanks so much Fae, the shrimp are delicious with or without the wine!
I love shrimp scampi and yours looks like a real treat. Paired with the wine I’m sure it’s even better. Going to check out the recipe now π
I always did scampi on the stove top finishing in the oven but itβs so so good on the grill. I highly recommend trying it, Thanks so much.
Fantastic, Suzanne! I love Vino in Love, and that he asked you to contribute; beautifully done.
Thank you so much Cyn, yes I love him and his blog. Fantastic!!!
Brava, Suzanne! I cannot say that I’m tempted π but the picture is really great!!! π
LOL, I know fish, right!!! I lucked out with the photo. Thanks so much.
Looks delicious! I love shrimp!
Shrimp are great especially when garlic and butter and lemon are involved. Thanks so much!
Shrimp and wine–fantastic! You do a lot of collaborating and socializing around food π You mention enjoying wine sites and I just found this one last night. Not so much about food, but a good primer for a wine novice such as myself. Also just lov the name: http://thewinewankers.com.au/
Thanks Liz, yes I love collaborations it’s great for learning on both ends and I think is very informative. I love winewanters, vinoinlove, and for a site that mixes wine info and food http://florastable.com/
I am totally a wine novice, love to drink it but am miserably deficient on real knowledge about it. Learning a lot!
I just ate lunch but am hungry for dinner as I would like to make your Scampi recipe tonight. I like how you marinate the shrimp AND prepare an additional sauce – sometimes I feel my shrimp come out rubbery when I saute them on the stove – think I will throw them on the grill instead. Looks very, very tasty. Nice photo!!
It’s very tasty, I prepare them both stove and grill. If I do on the stove I use both the cooktop and oven (broiler). Using the grill is fantastic though. Thanks so much and I hope you enjoy!
